State-of-the-art sawmill chooses Renholmen

In the past year, Renholmen has supplied a green sorting unit and a sticker stacker to Stenvalls’ sawmill in Sikfors. A second green sorting unit is on the way, and a further sticker stacker will be installed in the spring.
“We are proud of Stenvalls’ continued trust in us,” says Bernt-Ove Andersson, marketing manager at Renholmen.
Stenvalls Trä AB is a family firm with its roots in Sikfors. The company currently has sawmills in Sikfors, Piteå, Örarna and Seskarö, with around 230 employees and turnover of some SEK 1.7 billion. Its customers are located in the Nordic countries, Europe and Japan.
When Sikfors decided to invest in a new saw line, it also chose to go for new green sorting machines and sticker stackers.
“The time is ripe for us to make this investment in the plant in Sikfors, where it all started,” says Kristina Olofsson, sawmill manager at Sikfors.
Significantly higher production rate
In the new sawmill line, Sikfors has multipleblades that split up each saw cut, enabling a significantly higher production rate, which in turn significantly increases the number of pieces sent for green sorting.
“When we move from one green sorting unit, which we have in operation today, to the two green sorting lines which will be ready in the autumn of 2026, we will have access to more bins to distribute the newly produced wood into than we had before. That will give us greater efficiency and flexibility,” says Kristina Olofsson.
Renholmen’s solutions take the output from the saw line, then scan, cut, sort and finally stack the timber before the drying process.
“A powerful saw line calls for powerful timber handling technology. The green sorting line at Stenvalls has substantial capacity,” says Bernt-Ove Andersson.

“Stenvalls is respected in the industry and is an interesting customer which is constantly developing. It is pleasing for us to continue to supply them and share in their exciting growth journey,” says Bernt-Ove Andersson.
“Renholmen supplies good machines and complete solutions and has a strong drive to be at the forefront of development, just like us at Stenvalls,” says Kristina Olofsson.
What requirements do you place on Renholmen?
“We expect the control system to work perfectly together with the mechanical equipment to produce optimum results. We accept nothing less, and we will ultimately achieve that goal by working together.”
